SEGWAY SENTOSA

Tried segway a few months back. It was the first time that I was trying it and I got to ride it for free. We had to go on a trial run before actually riding it on the actual lane. It was quite scary at first as you will not be used to it and there is no emergency stop button if any accident were to happen. The only way to prevent yourself from getting hurt from accident is to jump off and abandon the segway. It moves when you push/pull the handle and the speed determines on the force you use. It was quite fun and we went for many rounds until we got tired.

PRIMA TOWER REVOLVING RESTAURANT

Celebrated my brother's birthday with my family at Prima Tower located at Keppel Bay. The restaurant looks old and rundown and their car park was rather messy. However, the restaurant moves really slowly in circles where it allows diners to enjoy the panoramic view of the sea, singapore skyline and sentosa. I was told that it takes about 1hr 45mins to complete one full round. The restaurant serves Beijing cuisins and I tried their house specialty which was the peking duck with the crispy skin of the roast duck wrapped in a thin Chinese pancake. I wouldn't say it was fantastic as I have tried better in other restaurants. I expected it to be good as I was told that the chef was famous for his delectable dishes. However, the staffs there were attentive and friendly.

It was my first time visiting the aquarium with my family. When we arrived, there was a long queue outside and we queued for about 45mins to an hour before we entered. I find the interior rather confusing as there was no direction as to where we should start from. However, there were many kinds of sea creatures for e.g. jellyfish, sharks, stingrays etc. The thing that left an impression on me was the the viewing panel. It was a really huge tank with many different kinds of sea creatures. I guess that was the only thing different as the rest looks something like what they already have at the Underwater World except that this one is much bigger. I find it rather boring and I guess I wouldn't visit it again unless they have something new and different.

Went to Swee Choon with 2 of my friends for dinner that night as we were craving for dim sum and since it is pretty known to many youngsters, we decided to give it a try although the location was not very convenient. Upon reaching there, there was a queue but fortunately we did not have to wait for long. Customers are given a choice whether to sit inside the restaurant with air-condition or outside. My first impression of the place was that it presented a very traditional Chinese style "restaurant". Similar table arrangement as Hong Kong dim sum cafe, closely packed and efficient service despite the crowd. We ordered typical dim sum dishes such as Century Egg Porridge, Har Kow, Fried Prawn Dumpling, Special Prawn and Banana Fritters which is a first, Portuguese Egg Tarts, Chicken Wings, Red Bean Paste Pancakes(which is like deep fried style), Fan Choy (Char Siew with 1/4 egg and rice) and lastly their popular Salted Egg Yolk Custard Buns. Many people have praised their Custard Buns and Custard Buns have gained popularity amongst Singaporeans since. From high-end restaurants to regular dim sum shops have ever since then started selling Custard Buns to compete to become the best of the best. Among all the dishes(other than the Custard Buns), I would say the Red Bean Pancake and Prawn and Banana Fritters won my heart over as it was unique and pretty good. The Har Kow and Prawn Dumplings were just regular dim sum, nothing special or outstanding. Well, for the Custard Buns, it tastes good but not fantastic(maybe because of all the good reviews about it, I probably had high expectations from it) But honestly, I find it abit too salty for me? I know it's SALTED Egg Yolk so obviously it would be salty but maybe adding abit of sweetness would do good. I have personally tried our school's opposite dim sum shop inside Sunshine Plaza, Victor's Kitchen, they also sell Custard Buns and I think their's is nicer. However, VK's Jade Dumplings and Chee Cheong Fun's flour skin to be too sticky. Overall, I would go to VK as it's just opposite and better Custard Buns. Till then, xoxo

BATAM Day 2

BATAM

Day 2 past really fast. I got woken up at around 9 to have my breakfast and the view from the hotel in the morning was really breathtaking. I managed to snap a few shots with my phone. We checked out of the hotel around noon and had ayam penyet for lunch. I guess I was really hungry or their rice portion was just too small because I ended up ordering a lot of rice. After lunch, we went for a last minute shopping while waiting for our ferry. The Ben & Jerry's there is so much cheaper compared to Singapore. However, I did not manage to buy anything as there was nothing that caught my eye. We reached Singapore around evening and went back home straight.

I guess I wouldn't want to go back there again as I find it rather boring.

BATAM Day 1

BATAM

It was my first time going to Batam. I went with my family for a 2 days short trip over the weekends. I find it rather boring as there is nothing much to see there. We took a 45mins ride on a ferry from Habourfront to Batam and it was quite fast. When we arrived there was a tour guide who brought us to many different places. The weather was not a hot as I expected it to be. We also watch a street show performed by 2 guys where one of them tore a coconut husk apart using his teeth and the other who chewed on broken glass. I found it rather disturbing but at the same time it was interesting. HOW CAN ANYONE TEAR APART A COCONUT HUSK OR CHEW ON GLASS?!?! ok anyway, after the performance we went shopping for clothes and food. We only manage to buy a few stuff as there was not enough time and we were rushing everywhere. We only checked in in the evening. After about an hour, we went out for dinner buffet at another hotel nearby. Something about their chilli is that....IT IS REALLY SPICY no joke and I like spicy especially chilli padis but their's was much spicier than chilli padi. After dinner, we went back to our hotel to rest.

I guess thats all for Day 1 at Batam.

Well it was my friend's 18th birthday and initially we were supposed to eat at Grub at Bishan Park but after queuing for 1hour plus we gave up and went to eat zi char opposite instead. Turns out it was not a bad decision as their food was great. We ordered the deep fried Prawn Paste Chicken(which was not as good as other zi char stalls, rather disappointing), stir-fried Sambal Kangkong that can't be missed especially if you are a Singaporean because spicy food is our favourite, crispy stuffed "You Tiao", their well-known Butter Ribs and Singapore's must-try, speciality dish, the Chilli Crab. Oh it was so satisfying as we were FAMISHED and it's been quite a period of time since I last ate crab. We split the bill amongst the four of us and surprisingly with the inclusive of the crab, it was a reasonable price. After a satisfying, mouth-watering dinner, there is always room for desserts so we headed down to Upper Thomson for ice-cream! We shared Green Tea ice cream and Ribena sorbert at Neli's, pretty okay but the sorbert was slightly too sweet for my liking. No doubt the best way to end my day with great company and food.
